The Majestic Unicorn

The majestic unicorn is sleek and soft.
She smells like cupcakes,
Or half eaten lollipops.
She is surrounded by endless butterflies,
Drawn in by her smell.
She wears a golden crown,
Embedded with jewels.
She stands up,
Startled by something.
Hunter!
Bang!
Motionless.

Sally Dasler

Lone Wolf

Wolf packs howl as sheep scatter,
Slowly ants dine at dead skin on the lone wolf.
Motionless the deer lay,
Cold blood dripping from its mouth.
Lone wolf sluggishly creeps over to hurt deer,
Crying an animal cry
Deer slowly tries to move.
The lone wolf crawls,
Only a few centimeters away from deer.
Smack,
Dead.
Wolf lies dead,
knife in the back,
Tree flinch as humans dash.

The Dusk Wanderer

As sunlight fades away he awakens a craving for meat
Snout up,
Teeth gnashing,
Paws at the ready
Moving like a shadow,
Peering through alleyways
He spies his midnight snack,
A deer, chomping at a bush
A roar like a thousand engines emits from the bristly beast
The deer’s legs motor round and round,
Like a chain on a chain saw
In the blink of an eye, the deer is hanging,
Motionlessly,
Caught between the teeth of the hunter
The hunter carries his prize like a dog with a bone
Dragging the precious cargo into the depths of the foliage
Liquid drizzles from his mouth like a bucket with holes
Snow starts to coat the ground like flour from a sift
The wolf gnaws at the deer’s meaty limbs,
Leaving blood stains on on the cold hard rocky floor

The Hungry Sloth

A shaggy lump clings to a withered tree

Slowly creeping along the vine consumed branch

To reach fresh vegetation

Moss weaves through it’s thick fur

Leaves drip with dew

Hungry

Yet too slow…

The Midnight Unicorn

Stars fall into their place in the dark
Cotton candy coloured clouds fill the night sky
Her soft tail swipes away flies as they pass by
She smells like sherbet
Or half eaten cupcakes
Shadows of colour follow
She gallops to the lake to get a drink of water
Cold
Fresh
As it slips down her throat
She walks with pride
Back to her patch of grass
Asleep till morning

Eagle Strike
Eyeing its prey
Gliding through the air
Looking
Searching for food

Yellow claws
Crunching teeth
Smooth long wings
Diving
Sheep guts in beak
Flying away.
